Day 11 An afternoon on the streets of Xi'an
After lunch and another drive through the countryside back to the city, we had some free time to explore the area around our hotel.
We walked down to the market. It consisted of small booths in a much larger building, a little like an inside flea market. One section was housewares, another was electronics, another clothing. This area grows a lot of wheat and noodles are popular, so we saw bakeries for the first time. On the street, we saw something called Chinese hamburgers. These "hamburgers" had stir-fried meat and vegetables between two flat fried buns. People were buying them through a "fast food" window on the street.
We also went to an upscale shopping area. As you can see from the bottom picture, shopping can be as popular in China as in the United States.
