Day 12 A visit to the Wild Goose Pagoda

After lunch we went to the Wild Goose Pagoda and enjoyed the people in the park.

Flying kites seems to really be a national pastime.

As always, there was construction going on and this time we were able to watch a bit. The men were moving a very heavy rectangle of concrete up onto a platform and were using pipes to leverage and roll it.

When we got to the airport, we had a big surprise. Waiting to get on our plane was a family that we worked with in the Philippines 23 years ago. They have worked in a variety of places in the Far East and retired two years ago in Salem Oregon. They were going to same place we were, but their schedule was very tight and we didn't get a chance to see them again.

We had an uneventful ride to Guilin, and arrived in a drizzly rain--the first we have had on the trip.
