Day 6 Our Yangtze River Cruise begins

We started the day with Tai Chi at 7:15. It was interesting and I can see how it would be good a good stretching exercise. We then had breakfast which included both American and Chinese choices. Our tour for the day was to the Three Gorges Dam construction site. The Dam was massive.

The Chinese government recognized that Americans would be concerned about the environmental, social and cultural impact such a project would have on the people, so they spend quite a bit of time explaining how the issues were addressed. Millions of people had to be relocated, but they were compensated with free houses and free education for their children. They also relocated the graves of their ancestors to a mass cemetery. The guides also explained that the Chinese Sturgeon was disrupted in it's return for spawning, but that they were trying to work it out for them.

After the tour, we went back to the boat and had demonstrations of acupuncture and Chinese foot massage. They claim that they can determine what ails you by where your feet hurt.
