Day 8 The ferry returns to the main ship

When we returned to the ferry boat, there was a long line of vendors, trying to sell everything from "antique" Chinese books to the ever present Rolex watch. We have concluded that all the vendors buy from the same suppliers, and just try to sell their stuff for as much money as they can get. The same trinket was offered for 25 - 75 Yuan by different vendors. Of course they were always willing to bargain, and we were told to start with about 30% of the original asking price. I found it difficult to remember the exchange rate ( $10 = 130 Yuan) so I let Paul do the bargaining. It is a special talent of his anyway.

These pictures show some of the scenery along the ferry ride. You can certainly see why many people didn't want to leave this beautiful area as the water rose. By the way, the high water mark represents where the water was last spring--about 3 meters above the current level.
